Right now I am reading Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger.  I just started this book, and so far, so good.  Here is a blurb about the book from Goodreads:

On the surface, Ordinary Grace is the story of the murder of a beautiful young woman, a beloved daughter and sister. At heart, it’s the story of what that tragedy does to a boy, his family, and ultimately the fabric of the small town in which he lives. Told from Frank’s perspective forty years after that fateful summer, it is a moving account of a boy standing at the door of his young manhood, trying to understand a world that seems to be falling apart around him. It is an unforgettable novel about discovering the terrible price of wisdom and the enduring grace of God.

Before this book, I read Little Fires Everywhere, by Celeste Ng.  I have been excited to read this book since it came out since I really enjoyed Everything I Never Told You and was happy to finally get my hands on a copy.  And then the worst thing happened to my reading this book.  Life.  I must have read the first chapter 3 or 4 times as every time I started, some major life distraction hit and I had to put the book down and away.  I am happy to say I finally got a chance to sit down and read the book, and it didn’t disappoint.  Very enjoyable story of motherhood.

Before that, I read Imagine Me Gone by Adam Haslett.  Whew, this book.  This book was VERY good, but also very heavy.  Every sentence had feeling, meaning.  This was one of those books that again took me awhile to get through as I would read and then sit and think.

From Goodreads:When Margaret’s fiancé, John, is hospitalized for depression in 1960s London, she faces a choice: carry on with their plans despite what she now knows of his condition, or back away from the suffering it may bring her. She decides to marry him. Imagine Me Gone is the unforgettable story of what unfolds from this act of love and faith.

Before that I read The Broken Girls by Simone St. James.  I really enjoyed the haunting, suspenseful aspect of this story about a boarding school for “troubled girls.”  The school is set to be restored in present day of 2014 after it closed in 1979.  The story vascillates to the girls residing in the school in 1950 and to a journalist in 2014 who is following the restoration.  In her research she learns of a ghost haunting the premises, bodies are found and by the end, she has answered a lot of questions.  Very enjoyable book to read!

I’m not sure.  Depends on what kind of mood the book I am reading  now leaves me in.  But I think I am vacillating between I Was Anastasia by Ariel Lawhon – the story of a woman claiming to be Anastasia Romanov a year and a half after she was supposedly assassinated with the rest of her family by the hand of the Bolsheviks.  Is she really Anastasia?  Is she not?  I dunno, but am excited to read the story.

Or, I may chose The Twelve by Justin Cronin.  I really enjoyed the post apocalyptic story he told in The Passage and am excited to read the second book in the series to see how the survivors continue their quest for survival and the restoration of humankind.

    1. Thank you! As soon as my husband comes home I hand off the kids and go read for an hour. I love my reading hour 🙂

  1. I’ve been wanting to read Little Fires Everywhere. I was looking at the Anastasia book too, but my TBR pile is huge because LIFE 😕😁
I just got through Black Leopard, Red Wolf. Very intense, very dense but a very cool story. Definitely different and definitely rated R, but not gratuitously.

    1. Life got in my reading way this past month. Ugh! But I finally got through Little Fires Everywhere – and it was so worth it! Your book sounds good too! I will have to check it out!

  2. Another great-looking collection of books, Robyn. I remember my mum telling me the story of Anastasia, and it really is a fascinating one. If you do opt for that one I’d love to know how it all works out, if it has the same ending as my mum told me – but I won’t blow it for you. Either way, enjoy what you read. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Alli! I know, I have been tempted to just ask Google about Anastasia – but then I thought the whole story sounds soooo intriguing. I really hope the author does well telling it! Keep you posted! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! I really liked The Passage – and am anxious to continue the story. I’ll keep you posted about it! 🙂
