Sometimes It’s Just a Photo

I have a certain routine when I go onto Facebook.

First, I wish a Facebook friend a happy birthday.  I scroll down and see what is happening in my news feed.  Check my notifications and messages.

And then I search over on the side to find my memories – photos from years past.

I smiled SO BIG when I saw this memory from today.

On a beautiful spring day five years ago, I packed the kids into the car and took them to the park with a kite.

We had never had much success with the kite – but THIS day we got the kite off the ground and enjoyed hours of watching it fly high in the sky.

When it was Declan’s turn he was ecstatic.  He laughed, he smiled – and then he ran.  Brother Bobby was right behind to corral him and the kite back and I got the picture.

I laughed so hard watching Declan run with the kite.  I knew he was excited and having such a great time.

Declan was two and a half at the time.  Not even diagnosed with autism yet.  Getting services for Sensory Processing issues, in a pre preschool to be around peers in a safe setting.  Things were so hard.  This moment was a moment of light – for all of us.

Right before this picture I took this one – and you could almost feel his excitement and understand why he never wanted kite flying time to end.

Such a happy memory and so glad to see it again – my little two-year old Declan experiencing kite flying for the first time and have thing the time of his life!

    1. When he was younger things were so much harder – for both of us. Seeing him smile like that really made my day and makes me smile every time I see it!

    1. I agree – there is so much emotion in those eyes! They are so full with happiness they make me so happy! Thank you 🙂

  1. They are such gorgeous pictures, I’m not surprised you felt so happy to see them again. They grow up so fast, don’t they? This last one of Declan is a real gem of a picture – so natural, and his expression of pure joy is a joy in itself to see. Thanks for sharing, Robyn. Another heart-warming post from your lovely family. 🙂

  2. I love seeing all those old pictures!! I stopped posting pictures of the girls a few years ago when they asked me to. They were old enough I felt I had to respect their wishes but I still get the ones from when they were little. 😁

    1. Thank you! Thankfully mine are still all smiles when the camera comes out. I don’t post too often, but if they asked me to stop then I would too. The little ones are great – so innocent! 🙂
