“Oh no, NOT THAT ONE!” I grunted in exasperation.

I sat back from the computer with a look of dismay.  As if the machine itself had betrayed me.

“Bummer!”

Recently, I have had more traffic come to my site with Feedspot that I am not used to.  I don’t share my posts on Facebook or Twitter.  That whole social anxiety thing.  I don’t mind if they get shared – I just don’t like to be the one waving the attention flag.

I am happy to get the traffic from Feedspot.  People interested in the same topic as me.  Cool.

But I looked in displeasure to where the readers were going when they came here.  The clicks went to blog posts that I shrug over.  Blog posts that I even had to go back and read again to remember them.

Some were my first blog posts.  I felt awkward reading them – cringy.

(Have you read some of your first blog posts?  Know what I mean?)

Those were posts that I actually was writing like no one was reading.  Because, you know, no one was reading them.

And then there are some posts that generate a lot of traffic.  They are the ones over there on the right under “Top Posts and Pages.”  The posts “10 Tips for the Autism Time Out” and “L-Carnosine and Autism” have over a thousand hits each.  And they are good posts – just not my favorites.

I am sure we have all had posts of our own that we really like. The posts that when we are finished we sit back and give ourselves the Anthony Michael Hall in “The Breakfast Club” punch on the arm

I have a few of those posts.  The ones that I really like and am super proud of.  Or just enjoy reading.   And to be honest, I get kind of upset when they get lost in the mix.

So, I decided to make a place for them.  They are now listed over there under “My Favorite Posts.”

(I actually tried to make a page on the blog for them.  I have tried twice now in two years.  Twice I have deleted this entire blog by accident in attempts to make pages on this blog.  After hours of trying to fix it myself (I really hate asking for help) and then two chats with the help desk, I have restored the blog and have resigned that I will not have pages on this blog.  Please remind me of that next year when I try again.)

I am hoping traffic makes it way there, to my favorite posts when someone is coming to this site.  Or is here and just wants to read something else.  And for an “About Me” page – just read the Autism Articulated “Meet Robyn Coupe.”  Consider those my pages – because they are the closest I am going to get to having one!

(Just glad to have the blog back too!)

    1. Haha! Thank you – I can’t believe I thought I could figure it out after I destroyed the blog last year – and did it again! Thank you so much! So happy to connect with you!

  1. Every time I try to do anything with my blig except post, comment and reply…BOOM! everything goes wonky and deletes. I feel you! I tried to make a contact page and I think I deleted the entire option. Some things are just not meant to be… Especially me and electronics😂😂😂

    1. Me too! One person said something was wrong with my PHP codes. Another said to add some line in the code – Um….what the heck is that stuff? I just wanted a page! And when I tried to do what they said, the whole thing disappeared. So forget it! Pages aren’t for me 🙂

  2. Well, THIS should creep you out, Robyn. I wrote a parody of a porn novel with two outlandish fetishes: Pony-girls and amputees. It is decidedly non-erotic and hopefully funny… but, whenever I see hits from a Google search, it is invariably weirdos looking for porn and accidentally clicking on that article…

      1. And with all those trigger words – porn, erotic, fetishes – WordPress totally spammed your comment! Glad I found it and fished it out – got a good chuckle!

  3. Billy Joel says things the best! I thought I was the only one who felt they belonged in The Breakfast Club movies…

Was not dumb enough to try shooting my self with the starter gun. Considered using a 22 shot gun when I was little. Then got smarter and decided to try poisoning myself with the chemicals we used on the farm, the hired hand walked in and caught me! He thought I just had the day’s cleaning schedule messed up! Didn’t admit the truth to him until Years later after he had sired his first little boy.

    1. I am glad you are okay, Jeanette – I really enjoy connecting with you here! I always loved The Breakfast Club movie – was never sure which one I would be, though?

  4. This hits home. I have a favorite posts sidebar that is ranks posts in order of likes. Ten posts. Personally I actually like two or three of them. The rest are fine, but I’d never hold them up as examples of good writing. I have a page of *my* favorites but no one ever goes there. I’ve thought to taking your approach and making a sidebar of the posts *I* think people should read.

    1. Yes, I remember this happened to you after “Follow” I think – I had wanted to make a page, but failed and decided to try the sidebar. I am not seeing those being clicked though 🙁 I am thinking people are clicking on the posts that are at the bottom of a post that share related tags. Which I think I need to change somehow – but am terrified since this blog is so touchy – would hate to delete it again
