It’s MAYcember!

It’s the end of the school year.

And if you have kids, chances are you are like me.

Busy.

There are events every week.  End of year sports parties.  End of year teacher gifts to figure out.  There is a summer ahead to plan and schedule.

The end of the school year is nothing short of exhausting.

For us, the end started with a very happy announcement.  Bobby was accepted and inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.

After carting Catelyn to school for many early rehearsals, there was the end of year concert.

And my little buddy decided he wanted to do the learning fair.  Declan decided to do his on Orca – and he did a great job!

Today was field day.  Fun outside playing games.  Which of course gets Catelyn super stimulated.

Tomorrow is the dreaded IEP meeting.  I have little to fear in my meeting – nothing is really going to change and it will be mostly an update.  But it is still me sitting in a room with a bunch of people that have already landed on the same page.  It’s intimidating.

And back to school again next week for some more end of school year wrap up.

It’s busy.

Then, one day, I was on a mindless scroll and came across this video which just cracked me up.  I follow The Holderness Family on Facebook and always enjoy their musical medley’s.

This one hit the nail on the head – with a smile!

Catelyn did great at chorus – but chorus was AFTER the Band AND THEN the orchestra’s performances.

Declan wanted to do the Learning Fair (which is completely optional) which was great.  But that meant outside of him providing the facts on Orca – I had a great big presentation to put together!

And I have spent the rest of my time trying to orchestrate and schedule summer activities for all of them.  Basketball camps, football camps, summer mission trips, rugby camp, soccer leagues, drama camp, field hockey camp, Vacation Bible Schools – and the big leap – one week of overnight camp for kids with special needs (yes, I am terrified.  Happy for Declan, but terrified).

The Mom Taxi will be in full effect this summer.

Anyway – time to take a deep “end of school year” breath and laugh with The Holderness Family and their fun MAYcember Medley!  Check it out!

  1. Yay!!! Another school year in the books and congrats to both parents and kids for all their accomplishments!!! Love that National Honor Society pic!!

    1. Thank you! That’s a good idea. I think I will charge the kids “A ride for no fighting” 🙂 Peaceful parenting ahead!

  2. Oh, I don’t miss those days… I remember them though, ugh! Ben, especially at his new school, doesn’t have any of that stuff. His summer program starts immediately after the “end ” of school and there is a three week break before the new year. Thank goodness!
That video was great! I wonder where people find the time and energy to do stuff like that?
I’ll be thinking of you and the Conference Table Of Dread at the IEP tomorrow. They always take a look looonnng. So many papers to review and sign. Ugh!💌💌💌

    1. I know! They must have such a huge following and get paid for their stuff – I think that video had over a million views. Then they probably make time for that little money maker!
Thank you! Fingers crossed for a painless, quick meeting!

  3. Thanks for the photos of your kids, who are looking more grownup than ever now! And congrats to them for their various successes. And to you Robyn. You get a year end diploma as well. When my son graduated from high school as an Ontario Scholar ( meaning he had all subjects over 80 %) I had several friends who knew what the journey had been like with him tell my that 50% of that high school diploma belonged to me. Ha Ha! Well the same for you Robyn I know from this blog how much work you have put in to keep it all happening.Bravo!

    1. Oh, gosh – me too. I see other people posting about how excited they are for summer. Not me!
