I’m sorry, I have Tourette Syndrome – a guest post – Reblog

My fellow blogger friend, Jeff Cann, suffers from Tourette Syndrome.  He writes about his experiences with Tourette to help spread understanding and awareness about the disorder.  I thought I knew a lot about Tourette before I started following Jeff’s blog.  Turns out, I was misinformed and have since learned from Jeff a lot about Tourette Syndrome.

Yesterday, Jeff asked a favor from his readers.  He asked for his readers to write their perspective on Tourette.  I was happy to participate and gave Jeff my blog post about my journey to understanding a bit more about Tourette Syndrome.  Jeff posted my piece on his blog which can be found here.  He also kindly wrote some nice words about my blog (thanks Jeff!) and I agree with him – all of your thoughtful comments on my pieces really do make me feel special.  Thank you!

So go check it out.  Don’t forget to click the link!  The post can be found here.

  1. Any kind of problem or disorder that affects your control over your body is awful. Just having the stomach flu is terrible for the short time it lasts.

Mental illnesses like schizophrenia or bipolar.

Neuro disorders like tourette’s or autism

Physical disorders like Parkinson’s or Huntington’s…

Makes a person thankful when things DO work the way we want them to.

Did you ever discover if there’s much difference between a tic and a stim?

    1. I agree. I left that Doctor’s office and didn’t really think much more about the nurse. It wasn’t until I read Jeff’s information about Tourette Syndrome that I became more aware (and grateful) for all the things that work for me the way I want them to.
I just looked it up – pretty interesting! Here is what I found: “Tics are often entirely involuntary and are harder to suppress, whereas stimming can be more easily consciously suppressed but still may cause distress when this is done. “
