How Inclusion Helps Bridge the Divide for My Autistic Son

I am happy to say that another one of my posts about inclusion has been picked up by The Mighty and published on their site.

After reading the comments on my post, Autistic Kids are Easy Targets for Bullies and Meanies, I realized how important the story of inclusion was for Declan when he was asked to be an honorary coach for a football team. Declan was included in a way that fit him, and the coach taught a lesson to every kid on the team – what the ACTION of inclusion looks like. Being an honorary coach also helped Declan face the big meanies on the playground. Total win!

I am always excited and happy to share a story of inclusion, so I made a few changes and gave it to The Mighty who put it on their site. If you get a chance, check it out!

    1. Thanks Jeff! I have had my share of rejections from them too. I have found if I am sending them something from a parents perspective it has to be written a certain way. I thinkโ€ฆ.

  1. Well done, Robyn! Great post, and very thought-provoking. You’re a brilliant spokesperson for Autism and for parenting autistic kids. You speak for all of us, and you do it sensitively and eloquently. Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚
